Schools Art Exhibition success!

Chesterfield Secondary Schools brought their students’ art work to St Andrew’s for the annual exhibition sponsored by Chesterfield Rotary Cub. Students, teachers, parents and friends crowded the church for the opening ceremony on Saturday morning, 8th October 2022. The Mayor of Chesterfield, Councillor Tony Rogers, handed certificates to all the students with art on display. The Moderator of the East Midlands Synod of the United Reformed Church, Revd Geoffrey Clarke, visited the exhibition, along with other representatives of the Synod, Christians Together for Chesterfield, St Andrew’s church, Chesterfield Rotary Club, neighbours and friends. Students brought family members and friends to see their art work on display. Painting in a whole range of styles, line drawings, photography and pottery all featured. Some items were A-Level and GCSE art work while others traced students’ developing skills from Year 7 onwards.

Our minister, Revd Caroline Andrews, and Dr Victoria Sharples chose recipients for prizes which will be handed to the winning students at their schools.

The exhibition was founded six years ago in cooperation between St Andrew’s Church and Chesterfield Rotary. The 2022 Exhibition followed a three year gap since October 2019 due to the covid 19 pandemic.
