Congratulations to Poppy Thorpe whose Bible reading was one of the highlights of last month’s Service of Celebration and Thanksgiving marking the 50th Jubilee of the United Reformed Church. Twelve-year-old Poppy commanded London’s Westminster Central Hall with immense assurance. She did St Andrew’s and East Midlands Synod as well as her own family proud with her grace, poise and clarity of diction and expression.
Poppy’s reading of Ephesians 4:1-16 was apt for a service reminding us of the URC’s dedication to unity: “There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the one hope of your calling, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all and through all and in all.”
