Lorraine Webb from URC Children and Youth visited Chesterfield on 25th June to meet Poppy and Marrissa and give them their Lundie Award certificates and cheque for £100. The girls told Lorraine about the letters and craft work they had sent to members of the congregation who were shut in their homes during the first lockdown. These letters and little gifts were a lovely surprise and gave great joy to people at a very difficult time. When lockdown returned at the start of 2021 they set to work again and sent out more letters. Lorraine thanked them for all they were doing for the church and told them that other churches had read about their activities on the URC website and started doing similar things. Marrissa told Lorraine that they were thinking hard about how to use the £100 Award to help children and young people. On Sunday morning Marrissa presented Liz, the Church Secretary, with the certificate for the church. She also showed the congregation the box with the chocolate medal they had received! Liz will get the certificate framed and put on the noticeboard.
